Clean Stove Programme for Mid-Day Meals in Schools

Supported by ABF and Vikas Yatra under their Corporate Social Responsibilities- March 2026- ongoing.

Summary

This project supports kitchen environment of schools through installation of institutional improved biomass cookstoves and electric cookstoves.

Ongoing Projects

Adoption of Clean Energy Cooking Stoves in Madhesh Province

In collaboration and supported by National Farmers Group Federation (NFGF) and CARE Nepal since November 2025.

Summary

The project promotes clean cooking solution among small farmers communities in Madhesh Province through installation of improved biomass cookstove, portable metallic biomass cookstove and electric cookstove.

Completed Projects

Clean Cookstove Project, Nepal

This project promoted 7300+ electric cookstoves in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces in partnership with cooperatives, private sector, NGO, CREEs and local government from August 2022 - November 2024.

Clean cooking solution project

This project was a joint collaboration with AEPC/NREP through SKBBL. The project was conducted from April, 2022 to March 2023.

Adoption of Electric Cooking

August 2023-July 2024 (USAID, Urja Nepal Programme)

Digital innovations for E-cooking market development

This projet was supported by GIZ/EnDev and implementing partner for this project was practical Action. This project was conducted from December 2021 to 2023.

Private-Community partnership for upscaling promotion of electric cooking in community rural electrification areas of Bagmati province in Nepal

This project was conducted from March 2021 to December 2021, where the supporting partner was GIZ EnDev.

Contributing to forest conservation through electric cooking promotion

This project was conducted from December 2019 to March 2020. The supporting partner for this project was Forest without Borders, Canada.

Market-led promotion of electric cooking in Timal community electrification area

This project was conducted in Kavrepalanchok District, Nepal from June 2019 to February 2020. Its supporting partner was GIZ EnDev.

Behavior Change Campaign in Dhunginitar (ICIMOD Demonstration Site) of Nuwakot district, Nepal

This project was conducted from June - December 2018. Its supporting partner was ICIMOD and Clean Cooking Alliance.

Supply side development partner for maximizing the health benefits of clean cooking in urban Nepal: a demonstration project

This project was conducted from July to December 2018. Its supporting partner was Clean Cooking Alliance.

Market-led promotion of electric cooking in dewabhumi Baluwa community electrification area

This projet was conducted in Baluwa, Kavrepalanchok district, Nepal from November 2017 to October 2018. This project was self - funded by ABF.

Rebuilding energy access and livelihoods of earthquake affected communities in Nepal (Real)

This project was conducted in 2018. Supporting Partner for this project was Practical Action, contributed in supply side of rocket stove only.

Clean cookstoves social marketing project

This project was conducted from March 2015 to December 2018. This project was self-funded by ABD. The Capacity building of women entrepreneurs was supported by UNCDF/CleanStart Project.
