Engineering X has launched a new report titled “High-level Review of the End of Life of Photovoltaic Infrastructure in Low- and Middle-Income Countries”, commissioned under the Engineering X Safer End of Engineered Life Programme.

The report was developed and coordinated by Equal Access Energy in partnership with Ajummery Bikas Foundation, Audax Consulting, and E[co]work. It examines the growing challenges of managing end-of-life solar photovoltaic (PV) infrastructure in low- and middle-income countries and provides practical recommendations for safer and more sustainable end-of-life management.

Drawing on case studies from Malawi, Rwanda, Kenya, India, and Nepal, the report explores key safety, environmental, and governance issues, identifies the stakeholders involved, and outlines pathways to strengthen sustainable PV waste management systems.
