E-Cooking campaign

Introduction

The National Electric Cooking Campaign (NECC) is a common platform of stakeholders engaged in promotion of electric cooking as clean cooking solution in Nepal. NECC is a platform for synergy between different stakeholders within the clean cooking ecosystem. It contributes towards people’s well-being by eliminating indoor air pollution through promotion of energy efficient electric cooking. NECC’s initiatives includes: 

Following successful piloting of electric cooking promotion in Kavrepalanchok district, ABF conceived the idea of National Electric Cooking Campaign (NECC) to contribute towards the national target of ‘electric stove in every household’. The Campaign, which has policy support from the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, was launched by the then Minister for Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation on January 25, 2019 (Magh 11, 2075 BS). 

Initiated by ABF and its partner organizations such as the National Association of Community Electricity Users Nepal and Radio Sagarmatha, the Campaign has grown comprising of more than 25 organizations contributing to clean cooking solutions. The Campaign has evolved as a platform to discuss the issues, provide feedback to improve the policy, and share working experiences among the promoting agencies and stakeholders.
